Not the zombie-under-his-bed kind of creeps. More like, where-the-fuck-is-he-going kind of creeps.

I think spending my Holi weekend watching Into the Wild (twice) was a bad idea. Why in the world does Sean Penn make simple plots so decadently depressing? And why does he always pick Eddie Vedder to do the soundtrack?

Hard Sun
When I walk beside her
I am the better man
when I look to leave her
I always stagger back again

Once I built an ivory tower
so I could worship from above
when I climb down to be set free
she took me in again

There’s a big
a big hard sun
beating on the big people
in the big hard world

When she comes to greet me
she is mercy at my feet
I see her inner charm
she just throws it back at me

Once I dug an early grave
to find a better land
she just smiled and laughed at me
and took her rules back again

Once I stood to lose her
and I saw what I had done
bowed down and threw away the hours
of her garden and her sun

So I tried to want her
I turned to see her weep
40 days and 40 nights
and its still coming down on me.

This is one of the Vedder tracks from the movie. Download it. Or email me, and I’ll send it across. If this doesn’t raise those goose-pimples, nothing will.

Beautiful lyrics. A friend had earlier sent me lyrics of 'Drops of Jupiter'. You may like those too.

But as for the eternal Atlas Shrugged form of misery in Hollywood, it's not Sean Penn. It has to be Nicolas Cage.

:-)

@ mukta: yes, drops of jupiter's nice as well...there was this person who recently tried her best to convert me to alternative rock, which is when I heard Train....

Cage makes an effort to make things miserable....Penn's mere presence makes things miserable ;)

Watched the movie twice on a long haul flight. Decadently depressing it is. Vedder and Penn, had to be a mindfuck deliverable.

Anyhow, great song. Has been on my youtube playlist all day (and all month) so it was a nice surprise to come here and see you raving :)
